About

ReSatoshi starts from its own genesis block and operates on its own network. It uses Bitcoin Core as its software foundation; it is a separate blockchain.

The project follows Bitcoin Core development while keeping changes specific to its network small and understandable. Nodes independently validate transactions and consensus rules.

UTXO recycling

A transaction output created at height h expires at h + 5,256,000 if it remains unspent after the transactions in that block. Spending in the expiry block is valid.

Expired value enters a recycle pool. Miners may claim up to the smaller of one coin and the available pool per block, in addition to the ordinary subsidy and transaction fees. Unclaimed value stays in the pool. Recycling redistributes existing value.

This is approximately 100 years at the 10-minute target interval. The rule uses block height, not calendar time, and applies to each output rather than the age of a wallet.

Connecting a node

Current main builds discover candidate peers through DNS seeds. Each node validates the chain independently. Updated seed entries require a build containing those changes.

Frequently asked questions

Is ReSatoshi part of the Bitcoin network?

ReSatoshi derives from Bitcoin Core software, but starts from its own genesis block and operates on its own network. Its native coins and addresses belong to that network.

What does “100-year recycling” mean?

An unspent output expires 5,256,000 blocks after its creation, approximately 100 years at the target block interval. The rule applies to each output, rather than the age of an address or wallet.

Does recycling create an extra subsidy?

No. It redistributes the value of expired unspent outputs. The recycle reward is limited to the smaller of one coin and the available pool, separately from the normal block subsidy and transaction fees.

Do I need to add peers manually?

With default networking options, current main builds discover peers automatically. The setup guide also documents manual bootstrap connections for troubleshooting.
